Celtic treble icon pictured attending last night’s Champions League final

With Celtic’s season over and ending with a league and Scottish Cup double, the fans had the opportunity of taking in the remaining games of the year as the European competitions drew to their eventual conclusions.

History was made in the Europa League final after Ademola Lookman became the first-ever player to score a hat trick in a European final.

Lookman, who was once targetted by Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, guided the Italians to their first European trophy in their history.

Olympiacos also made history this week after winning the Europa Conference League in a 1-0 win over Fiorentina.

Once touted for a Celtic move, Daniel Podence helped the Greek side to their first-ever European trophy after Jose Luis Mendilibar’s last-minute extra-time strike sank Fiorentina.

And next up, it was the turn of Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in last night’s Champions League final.

Real Madrid were hoping to extend their historic winning run in the competition to 15 wins by overcoming German side, Borussia Dortmund.

And pictured attending the huge footballing event was Celtic legend, Paul Lambert, who was at Wembley final to cheer on his old team.

Posted on Borussia Dortmund’s official English X site, Lambert was snapped next to his former teammate Karl Heinze-Riedle as they both hoped that they could witness their old team emulate their success when back in 1997 both players won the trophy after beating Juventus 3-1:

Like his European exploits at Celtic, Lambert looks back fondly at his memories of winning the Champions League with the German side.

The former Celtic captain created history in the competition himself when he became the first Scottish player to lift the trophy in its new look format.

With Celtic set to participate in the Champions League group stages next season, I have no doubt Lambert will switch back his support to the Bhoys.

And after his recent comments on where he sees Celtic progressing in the tournament, if Brendan Rodgers can add a couple of real quality signings, then maybe/hopefully Celtic can get out of the group this season.
