Dortmund manager makes admission on Jadon Sancho future after Champions League final

By Jude Summerfield

Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic has hailed the impact of Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho but admitted he is unsure of the winger's future ahead of the summer transfer window.

The England international fell out with Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag earlier in the campaign before rejoining BVB on loan in January. They could only finish fifth in the Bundesliga but enjoyed a run to the Champions League final, where they were beaten by Real Madrid on Saturday night at Wembley Stadium.

Sancho has rediscovered some of his best form back in Germany and was named in the starting XI for the 2-0 defeat to Los Blancos, but Terzic revealed Dortmund are in the dark over his availability following the conclusion of his loan.

He said after the loss: "The last six months, Jadon has been brilliant for us. It took some time to get back into shape but we can feel his quality and skills would improve our game straight away. He didn't improve only his game but players around him.

"He's very gifted.

"We've been talking about the present. The Champions League final in his hometown. I'm really happy he is with us. You can feel the joy he receives in the dressing room and brings into the dressing room.

"I'm very happy to work with Jadon. We don't know what the future will bring him but for sure it will bring him another Champions League final."

Having made only three substitute Premier League appearances for United before lashing out at Ten Hag on social media, Sancho went on to record two goals and two assists in 14 Bundesliga matches, also striking in a 2-0 Champions League win over PSV Eindhoven in March.

United have tracked the England international during his return to Signal Iduna Park and Ten Hag even cryptically suggested a resolution is "close" to being reached.

Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl promised last month that the club would do everything in its power to hold onto Sancho beyond the 2023/24 campaign.
