Report: Liverpool now keen on signing 'outstanding' £70m-rated Premier League player; he wants to leave

Liverpool are looking to bolster their midfield options this summer and could now move for one of the Premier League’s top performers.

The Reds want new signings and with Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes overseeing things, it’s expected to be a busy summer.

Of course, there are plenty of players out there who are being linked with moves to Anfield.

The likes ofKhephren Thuram, Mohammed Kudus and Crysencio Summerville are just three names who have been mentioned in the last 48 hours.

However, a new name has now emerged as well, in form of Aston Villa star, Douglas Luiz.

Liverpool among clubs looking at Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz

According to a report from Calciomercato, Liverpool are among a cluster of clubs who are keen on signing Villa midfielder Luiz.

The Brazilian was one of the outstanding performers in the Premier League last season as he played a key role in helping Villa into the Champions League.

However, his future has been in doubt for some time now and there are a host of clubs looking to sign him.

CM’s report states Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are all keen on the £70m-rated Luiz.

It comes amid further reports that suggest Luiz has actually decided to leave Villa Park, with Juventus also listed as a potential destination.

Luiz would slot right in at Anfield

If Arne Slot is looking for a midfielder who already ticks every box for a Premier League midfielder, then Douglas Luiz is the man.

Lauded as being ‘outstanding‘ for Villa throughout last season, Luiz has more than proved his worth since arriving at Villa for just £15m.

Luiz would slot right into proceedings at Liverpool.

His experience at Premier League level, his proven quality, and the fact he’s so in-demand, suggest that Luiz would be just what Liverpool have been looking for in midfield.

£70m is a lot of money. However, in today’s market, it could well be an investment worth making.
