Willy Kambwala’s answer when asked who he models his game on is very surprising, Ben White-esque

Willy Kambwala is one of the Manchester United academy graduates to have broken into the first-team this season.

The French centre-half was given a baptism of fire by Erik ten Hag when he was handed his Manchester United debut in the Premier League against West Ham amid an injury crisis, and he did well all things considered.

Hopefully, Kambwala will follow in the footsteps of Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, recreating their successes since nailing down a spot in the starting XI.

We sincerely hope he does. He is a massive Manchester United fan first and foremost.

Willy Kambwala on who he models his game on

Speaking to BackOfTheNet, Kambwala was asked about which players he admired growing up, and more importantly, if he modelled his game on any of these players. His response was rather surprising.

Kambwala said: “To be honest, I don’t really watch football so I don’t really have a player that I model my game on. I have players that I really like, and players that I really liked growing up, but to be honest I just try to play my game in the way that I like to play.

“If I was to say to myself, what do I model my game on, I would say in a way where I can have fun and enjoy playing.”

Ben White-esque, the kid doesn’t watch football! But that makes no difference to his ability, we guess. Kambwala’s response is refreshing, to be honest, a young lad finding his own way through the game – and it’s evidently worked for him so far.

Manchester United fans love Kambwala, and the feeling is reciprocated

The reason why many want Kambwala to succeed is the fact he’s shown immense passion and dedication to United despite only featuring a handful of times.

BackOfTheNet also made sure he realised this was the case, speaking about how the fans love the effort he gives for Manchester United. His response was class. He simply stated: “I love them more!”

Hopefully, the 19-year-old can step up and take the place of the departing Raphael Varane. It would be great to see him succeed at Old Trafford.
