Report: Arsenal were offered 'special' player in free transfer - but he looks set to now join PL rival

Arsenal were offered the chance to sign one Premier League star now on the verge of joining another of their top-flight rivals in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners are definitely going to be one to watch this summer with Mikel Arteta looking for the signings which get them across the line in the Premier League title race.

It is going to be interesting to see what budget Arsenal are working with, particularly after they signed David Raya on an initial loan late last summer and then brought no-one in in January.

Perhaps Gunners fans can take some confidence from the fact that Arsenal have seemingly snubbed the chance to sign one Premier League player on a free transfer.

Arsenal turned down chance to sign Tosin Adarabioyo

The first signing of the Enzo Maresca era at Chelsea looks set to be Tosin Adarabioyo, with the centre-back able to leave Fulham on a free transfer.

Interestingly, Caught Offside is now reporting that Tosin was also offered to a host of other Premier League sides, including Arsenal. However, the Gunners are focusing on younger targets as they look to strengthen their defence.

Manchester United and Tottenham were also offered Tosin.

Gunners have already made enquiry another defender

Arsenal fans can perhaps be encouraged by Edu and Mikel Arteta looking elsewhere, as you would imagine that Tosin could have been an ideal target had they been working on a limited budget.

The ‘special‘ 26-year-old has plenty of Premier League experience to provide cover and competition for the likes of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes. So it is little surprise that he is being linked with so many top sides in England.

Arsenal have made a move for a defender, with an enquiry launched for Mikayil Faye at Barcelona. The Senegal international will reportedly cost at least £17 million.

It perhaps says plenty that Arsenal seemingly view Faye as a better option than someone like Tosin, who would have cost nothing in transfer fees.
