Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of June 2

On the Ukrainian front, the Pokrovsk direction remains the most active in terms of the number of Russian attacks. Defense forces are holding back enemy attacks, while the enemy is concentrating its activity in the areas of Novooleksandrivka and Sokil, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

The military command provided data on the operational situation as of 22:30 on June 2.

Russian shelling

During the day, the Russians launched 4 missile attacks on the territory of Ukraine using 2 missiles and 33 air strikes using 46 guided bombs, and used 351 kamikaze drones.

In addition, the Russians fired almost 2,500 times at the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and populated areas using various types of weapons, the General Staff added.

Situation at the front

Currently, 60 combat engagements have taken place.

There have been 2 combat engagements in the Kharkiv direction since the beginning of the day. Enemy attacks were repelled near the villages of Lyptsi and Starytsia. The situation is under control, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are active, inflicting losses on the enemy.

There were 6 firefights in the Kupiansk direction. All attacks of the Russian militants were repelled in the vicinity of Druzhelyubivka and Nevske.

In the Lyman sector, the enemy tried to advance 4 times in the direction of Terny and in the Serebryanskyi forest. 3 attacks were repelled, another 1 combat engagement is ongoing near the village of Terny.

The General Staff added that the enemy had not succeeded, no losses of Defense Forces positions were allowed.

In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled seven enemy assaults in the areas of Vyimka and Rozdolivka over the last day. Near the latter, the situation remains tense, and fighting continues.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian troops stopped 7 enemy attempts to break into the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defense near Kalynivka, Klishchiivka and Andriivka. No losses of positions and territories were incurred.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 17 enemy attacks. Ukrainian defenders are repelling the Russians' attempts to break through.

“The enemy concentrated its activity in the areas of Novooleksandrivka and Sokil. Fighting is still ongoing near the latter. Defense forces are taking active measures to prevent the enemy's advance,” the General Staff said.

There were 6 combat engagements in the Kurakhove direction, 5 of which were successfully repelled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Fighting continues in the area of Krasnohorivka.

In the Vremivka direction, Ukrainian defenders held off 3 attacks towards Staromayorsk. The situation is under control.

In the Orikhiv direction, Russian troops unsuccessfully tried to advance to Mala Tokmachka.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, at the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River, Ukrainian defenders fought back the Russian troops 5 times in the area of Krynky.

In other areas, there were no significant changes in the situation.

Strikes on the enemy forces

The General Staff said that since the beginning of this day, the aviation, missile and artillery units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have struck at:

  • 18 areas of concentration of personnel,
  • 2 control points,
  • 3 artillery systems,
  • 2 air defense systems and an electronic warfare station of the enemy.
