Kentucky vs. Indiana State delayed due to weather

The rain in Lexington is going to make for a potentially long night at Kentucky Proud Park.

Shortly after 5:00 p.m. EST — a little under an hour before first pitch between Kentucky and Indiana State was originally scheduled — it was announced that tonight’s game would be delayed. A new first pitch time has not yet been announced. Fans were not allowed to enter the stadium until 5:15.

Kentucky enters Sunday’s showdown with Indiana State one win away from clinching the Lexington Regional. A win over the Sycamores, which beat Illinois earlier in the day 13-2, would push UK into the Super Regionals (also hosted in Lexington) of the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

[UPDATE (6:33 P.M. EST): FIRST PITCH IS SCHEDULED FOR 7:30 P.M. EST)

Now I’m obviously no weatherman, but the Weather.com radar indicates that the rain should slow down between 6-7 p.m. EST. Hopefully, first pitch can start before 7:00 and we’re not taking this game into the late hours of the night. Just keep the thunder and lightning away.

In the event that Kentucky loses to Indiana State once the game is finally played tonight, the two teams will face off again on Monday at a time to be determined. The winner of that matchup would then advance to the Super Regional.
