Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during his visit to Manila today, discussed bilateral cooperation, the upcoming Global Peace Summit, and Russian aggression against Ukraine with his Filipino counterpart Ferdinand Marcos Jr., according to Zelenskyy's Twitter account.
"I arrived in the Philippines and met with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for the first time in the history of our bilateral relations," noted the head of the Ukrainian state.
He expressed gratitude to the Philippines for supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for a clear position on Russia's aggression against our country, and for supporting important UN resolutions.
Zelenskyy announced the opening of a Ukrainian embassy in the Philippine capital.
"Ukraine intends to open an embassy in Manila this year to strengthen bilateral cooperation," the head of state said.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the inaugural Global Peace Summit scheduled for June 15-16 in Switzerland, and the importance of representing Southeast Asian countries at the summit.
"I am pleased that the Philippines will participate in the Summit," Zelenskyy's post said.
In addition, the presidents discussed bilateral cooperation, including the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to the Philippines.

The meeting between both leaders took place on June 3 at the Presidential Palace in the Philippines after Zelenskyy's participation in the largest security conference in Asia in Singapore over the weekend.
In his conversation with Marcos, he thanked him for the invitation to the Philippines, Reuters reported.
"Thank you for this invitation and we are very thankful to be in your country which supports Ukraine, our territorial integrity and sovereignty. Thank you so much of your big word, and clear position about us, about this Russian occupation of our territories," Zelenskyy said to his Philippine counterpart.
For his part, Marcos said it was an honor for him that the Ukrainian leader visited Manila.
"It's a great pleasure to meet, to discuss, issues that are common for both countries, and hopefully, we find ways for both of us together," the Philippine president told Zelenskyy.
Earlier, the arrival of Ukrainian President Zelenskyy to the Philippine capital of Manila on June 3 for a meeting with his counterpart Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. was reported on the Philippine government's resource.
