‘In the mix’: £90k-a-week driver’s management has contacted three teams over potential 2025 move – journalist

With so many potential seats available in 2025, it would be a mistake for drivers and their management teams not to explore every possible option.

Although the front of the grid is looking quite set for next year, the teams further down the paddock are a lot more open to making changes.

Journalist and paddock insider Lawrence Barretto was writing on the Formula 1 website about the latest potential moves happening on the grid.

Some teams – such as Sauber – want to change both drivers for next year and have already signed Nico Hulkenberg.

Others, like Red Bull and Aston Martin, look set to stick with what they’ve got for 2025.

However, Alpine are keen to retain one driver and that appears to be Pierre Gasly, although his management team have explored moves to at least three other outfits on the grid for next season.

It’s understandable why the £90,000-a-week driver is seeing what else is available considering how far down the pecking order the French team have fallen.

Pierre Gasly exploring moves to at least three other F1 teams

The Monaco Grand Prix was incredibly eventful for both Gasly and Alpine.

In qualifying, the 28-year-old was absolutely delighted to have reached Q3 and he received plenty of praise from Martin Brundle as a result.

However, all his hard work was nearly ruined on the first lap when his teammate Esteban Ocon made an ill-judged move on him that ultimately ended his race.

Gasly came home in 10 and scored his first point of the season.

He may have felt that he left some performance on the table and might have been disappointed not to have secured more points for Alpine.

Unfortunately, Gasly only scoring his first point of the campaign after eight race weekends sums up where Alpine are this season.

And while Alpine want to retain Gasly – and move Ocon on – he’s explored moves to at least three different teams for 2025.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear as if Gasly will suddenly be earning a race seat in a team capable of challenging much further up the grid.

Pierre Gasly is in the conversation for a new seat in 2025

Writing about the options available on the grid next year, Barretto said: “Like [Esteban] Ocon and [Valtteri] Bottas, [Pierre] Gasly is a Grand Prix winner who would consider a new challenge, having had a decent but unspectacular time at Alpine since joining last season.

“It is believed Alpine are keen to keep him – however, his management are understood to have explored their options with at least three teams in the mix.”

Although Barretto doesn’t name the three teams Gasly has explored moving to, it could be assumed that they are likely to be Haas, Sauber and Williams.

Haas are expected to sign Oliver Bearman and have lots of options on the table including Yuki Tsunoda.

Williams have their eyes set on signing Carlos Sainz when he leaves Ferrari at the end of the year.

Meanwhile, if Sauber can’t get Sainz themselves, it might come down to which Alpine driver they would like to hire.

Ultimately, it seems that Gasly could be destined to spend another season at Alpine, although it’ll be fascinating to see who lines up alongside him in 2025.
