Report: How much Chelsea will pay for Enzo Maresca with six staff set to follow him to Stamford Bridge

Chelsea look set to officially name Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca as their new manager on Monday.

The Italian is set to take over from Mauricio Pochettino after the Argentine left by mutual consent last month.

After guiding Leicester to a Championship title last season, Maresca will instead get his first taste of Premier League football as Chelsea boss.

It’s undoubtedly a huge blow for the Foxes after such a brilliant campaign under Maresca. Leicester racked up a total of 97 points under Maresca’s guidance in what was a promising debut campaign for the former Manchester City assistant.

Now, Chelsea have agreed a compensation fee with Leicester ahead of Maresca’s switch to Stamford Bridge.

How much Chelsea will pay Leicester for Maresca

The Athletic has shared an update on Maresca’s proposed switch to Stamford Bridge.

It’s claimed that the Italian is set to sign a five-year deal with the west London club, with a club option to extend by a further year.

He will also bring his own staff with him, which includes Willy Caballero, Danny Walker, Michele De Bernardin, Marcos Alvarez, Javier Molina Caballero and Roberto Vitiello.

The outlet reports that Chelsea signed off an agreement with Leicester on Sunday as both clubs agreed on a fee worth around £10 million.

Marecsa’s contract a good sign for Chelsea fans

After the early departures of Pochettino and Graham Potter under the current ownership, Maresca’s contract could be a good sign for Chelsea fans.

The Blues have lacked stability in recent years and Pochettino’s departure raised eyebrows after such a strong end to the season.

In handing Maresca a long-term contract, it’s a clear show of faith in their incoming manager and he should be handed sufficient time to get Chelsea back on track.

With that being said, Potter was also handed a five-year contract and he lasted just seven months under the current owners.
