Report: Liverpool could now sign 'electric' attacker for £21m, his asking price has been slashed

A player who Liverpool have scouted heavily amid Arne Slot’s arrival has now been put up for sale given it’s been decided that he won’t sign a new contract.

At Liverpool, Slot has inherited a very healthy squad, one that will only need slight tweaks in order to match the Dutchman’s style.

Jurgen Klopp oversaw something of an overhaul of his midfield last summer, significantly reducing the average age when swapping the likes of Jordan Henderson for Dominik Szoboszlai.

Perhaps some fans expected the same to happen to the club’s back line this summer, plans that may be disrupted by all of the staffing changes at the club.

The likes of Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Willian Pacho have been linked, two deals that could have legs.

However, judging by reports, Liverpool are now leaning towards a more offensive addition for Slot immediately, having been linked with a host of top-draw wingers.

Such a signing is often pitched as a ‘Mohamed Salah replacement’ but with the Egyptian likely to stay, any signing will be on its own merits.

Liverpool target Federico Chiesa won’t sign a new deal with Juventus, he’s up for sale

Juventus’ Federico Chiesa is thought to be heavily admired by Liverpool’s recruitment team, a talent they’ve even been scouting in person.

Slot’s teams rely on their wingers for chance-creation, and Chiesa could be exceptional in such a set-up.

And perhaps fortunately from a Liverpool point of view, Italian source Corriere Dello Sport, are now reporting that Chiesa could be sold.

The 26-year-old will have just one-year-left on his contract as of July and won’t be signing a new deal according to the local source.

Chiesa is therefore considered up for sale and the report confirms that there is interest from the Premier League.

The ‘electric’ Italian was considered to be valued upwards of £50m by Juventus in the past, an understandable figure given his talent.

But because of this contract situation, the report states that Juventus might be willing to accept around £21m for Chiesa, a figure that would still leave the club in profit considering their deal to sign the winger from Fiorentina.

Any deal could therefore represent a bargain for Slot and his team, a chance for Liverpool to back their new manager and still have funds to spend elsewhere.

All that being said, Liverpool are also said to be interested in a young talent who’s been compared to Jude Bellingham.
