Arsenal supporters have now all reacted to a new image of club captain Martin Odegaard on international duty with Norway.
Arsenal star Martin Odegaard will be representing his country this week.
Whilst Norway did not qualify for this summer’s EUROs tournament, they are still taking part in two friendlies this week. First, they will take on Kosovo on Wednesday, before Saturday’s clash with Denmark.
Mikel Arteta may well be frustrated that these matches are taking place at all. Odegaard has just finished a long domestic season, in which he played an awful lot of football for the Gunners. Now is the time he should be resting, rather than featuring in international fixtures which are largely meaningless. The Arsenal boss will simply be hoping that the skipper can avoid any injuries.
How important is Martin Odegaard to Arsenal?
The 25-year-old playmaker’s importance to the North London club can scarcely be overstated. Odegaard was one of the most creative players in Europe this season, and is so often at the heart of the Gunners’ attacking play.
He is equally influential off the ball. The former Real Madrid man is responsible for triggering and leading the team’s press, and works tirelessly to close down and pressurise opposition players on the ball. Odegaard has been described as a “perfect” Arsenal captain due to his tremendous work rate and relentless running.
His efforts on the pitch are only made possible by a great deal of hard work behind the scenes, in the gym and at the training ground, and Odegaard clearly isn’t slacking in this department. A new image of the midfielder training with his international teammates shows just how well-honed his body is.
