Emma Jones dies aged 32

Britain’s Got Talent 2015 semi-finalist, Emma Jones, has sadly died at the age of 32. Jones’ loved ones recently shared a message on Facebook to announce her death, which happened in February 2024.

“I’m sorry to tell you Emma Jones has died. She died on Valentine’s Day after being diagnosed with multiple organ cancer. The doctor thinks it began as ovarian cancer and spread to other organs,” it read.

At the memorial held at Allonby’s Christ Church on May 1, Jones’ former partner, John Hastings, said he felt “proud and touched by her exploits on Britain’s Got Talent, when she overcame her nerves”.

Britain’s Got Talent success

Emma was an Opera singer who stunned with her version of Ave Maria by Andrea Bocelli at her first audition on BGT, which has been watched more than five million times on YouTube.

She was just 23 at the time, receiving a standing ovation for her vocal talent, but warned judges and the audience how nervous she felt. David Walliams told her she “should be confident” about her voice.

Jones’ audition was “the best day in her whole, entire life” and went on to perform Sarah Brightman’s Pie Jesu at the semi-finals, where she revealed she lives on her own and wasn’t confident growing up.

Her life after BGT fame

The singer, from Wigton in Cumbria, went on to work as a vocalist after BGT, mainly performing at small gigs across the country. One of her gigs was at The Liquor Hut in Carlisle in April 2016.

Several years later, in January 2022, Emma was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. At the time, she had joined a choir and also would regularly sing songs on the karaoke website, Sing Snap.

Her former partner said at her memorial: “It’s a great shame that we will never see her again, but we still have her performances online to cherish and fondly remember her by.”

Hi. My name is William Edward Mills. Emma has been in a depression a long time and also forgot her previous two…
