'I want to': Brighton player admits he would actually love to play for Manchester City one day

Deniz Undav has admitted that he would like to join Manchester City one day amongst various other top clubs.

The German international, who was at VfB Stuttgart on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion last season scored 18 goals in the Bundesliga.

The 27-year-old played a major role in Stuttgart finishing above Bayern Munich in the German top-flight in second place.

Deniz Undav admits Manchester City dream

In both games against Manchester City during the 2022/2023 season, Undav was brought on as a late substitute by De Zerbi.

As a result, the in-form striker has an idea of how fantastic a team they are.

Speaking to BILD, Denis Undav revealed that much like most players, he too would love to sign for Manchester City in the future.

“I think there are few players who would turn down an offer from FC Bayern. Everyone wants to move to the really big clubs at some point: Man City, Real [Madrid], Barcelona. That is the last big step that I want to achieve at some point and I give everything for it every day.”

Undav has a contract at the Amex Stadium until 2026.

Manchester City are firmly regarded as an elite club

In our view, the fact that Deniz Undav speaks for most players in dreaming of joining Manchester City is telling.

No longer are Pep Guardiola’s men seemingly viewed as a club who are on the rise.

Instead, the Sky Blues are considered an institution built to succeed alongside Real Madrid, Bayern and Barcelona; emphasising their growth as a club since their takeover in 2008.

Manchester City’s primary goal at the time when they were taken over would have been to be regarded as one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Despite their incredible success, it takes time to be viewed by players as clubs on the same pedestal as Real Madrid, Bayern and Barcelona.

Players often join such clubs just to experience what it is like to be a part of such prestigious institutions.

For a current player like Deniz Undav to make such a claim about Manchester City goes to show how successful their takeover has been.
