Ukrainian military repels attack near Krynky, while Russia increases shelling along northern border - General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled an attack by Russian troops near Krynky. However, Russia has intensified shelling of the border in Chernihiv and Sumy regions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the General Staff, 73 combat engagements have taken place at the front since the beginning of the day. Currently, the most intense Russian activity is in the Pokrovsk and Kupiansk directions.

In addition, Russia continues to launch artillery strikes from its territory at settlements in Chernihiv and Sumy regions. In particular, the Ukrainian settlements of Pavlivka, Seredyna Buda, Pokivka, Kliuchy, Lisne, and Kindrativka were shelled from the border areas of the Russian Federation.

Situation in the directions

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy has increased its activity and has already launched 11 attacks on Ukrainian positions. In particular, three combat engagements are ongoing in the vicinity of Stelmakhivka, Berestove, and Terny.

In the Siversk direction, the enemy carried out nine assault operations. Seven attacks by the Russian forces are being held back by Ukrainian troops in the vicinity of Rozdolivka and Ivano-Daryivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, four combat engagements are ongoing near Ivanivske and Alebastrove. One attack was successfully repelled.

In the Pokrovsk direction, enemy activity continues in the vicinity of Novooleksandrivka Persha and Ptychke. 30 occupants' attacks took place in this direction since the beginning of the day.

In the Kurakhove direction, Ukrainian troops prevented nine enemy attacks. The situation is under control.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, near Krynky, Ukrainian defenders repelled another enemy attack. The total number of combat engagements in the direction increased to three.

In other directions, the situation has not changed significantly.

Russia's offensive

Russia launched a second offensive in the Kharkiv region in early May. After that, the Russian forces became more active along the entire front line. So far, the Russian army has reached the outskirts of Vovchansk. Street battles are ongoing in some places.
