N.J. man who sexually assaulted 2 girls for more than a decade gets sentence

A New Jersey man whosexually assaulted two girls over an 11-year span has been sentenced to 22 years in state prison.

Ahmed Andre, 62, will have to serve more than 18 1/2 years before he is eligible for parole, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Andre, of Elizabeth, was convicted in March of 10 total counts of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child following a two-week trial.

The investigation began after the Elizabeth school district provided the prosecutor’s office a tip. The victims were 9 and 10 when the sexual abuse began, authorities said.
