Report: Real Madrid have a player who really wants to sign for Man City, Pep Guardiola's side aren't as keen

It has been reported that one Real Madrid player is more interested in signing for Manchester City than they are in securing his services.

Real Madrid have one of the best squads in Europe and a majority of the talent at their disposal would stroll into most teams in the continent — explaining their dominance in the Champions League over the past decade.

But the same can be said for Manchester City, who have top players across every position — making their transfer requirements very specific.

Real Madrid star keener on Man City move than they are in signing him

In the summer transfer window, as is usually the case with City, they will focus on bringing players in who fit Pep Guardiola’s philosophy — especially considering he has been rumoured to leave the club in 2025.

If the Sky Blues struggle to spot such talent on the market, it is unlikely that they will sign a player just for the sake of it, unlike other top European clubs.

However, it has been revealed by The Athletic that the player in question is Rodrygo, to whom the idea of signing for Manchester City appeals more to than the club itself.

On Friday, it was claimed that the Brazilian has no interest in leaving Real Madrid, with him and his representatives considering their project the best in the world.

Manchester City must change Rodrygo stance

In our view, Manchester City must veer away from their current stance on Rodrygo and make him one of their main transfer priorities.

With the two-time Champions League winner being only 23 and having a contract at Real Madrid until 28, any club trying to secure his services would have to stump up a handsome fee.

However, Rodrygo is the calibre of player who justifies being a big-money signing and he would fit like a glove at Manchester City.

The former Santos attacker is capable of playing on both flanks at a high level and alongside Jeremy Doku, he could form a potentially legendary wing duo. City currently only have one natural winger on their books in Doku and Rodrygo is a far more established and polished player than him.

The silky dribbler is also well-capable of playing as a striker and he could give Pep Guardiola the option to deploy him centrally in the absences of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.

There are not many players of the quality, versatility and winning experience Rodrygo has at such a young age.

If the three-time La Liga winner is genuinely open to signing for the Sky Blues, they should pounce at the opportunity to make the deal a reality.
