Chelsea could now activate transfer plan to beat Arsenal to Benjamin Sesko

Chelsea could reportedly move ahead with a transfer plan that would see the Blues beat Arsenal to Benjamin Sesko.

The RB Leipzig striker has emerged as a priority target for the Gunners in recent days, with Arsenal interested in signing Sesko as a potential long-term option to lead the attack for Mikel Arteta.

With 18 goals in all competitions last season with the Bundesliga side, the 21-year-old attacker ticks a lot of boxes for what Arsenal are seemingly looking for in a new striker this summer, with Sesko likened to Erling Haaland.

Yet Chelsea could once again be about to ruin everything for Arsenal in the transfer market.

Chelsea could trigger Sesko’s release clause with Arsenal looking at cheaper deal

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea could trigger Sesko’s £56m release clause in an attempt to beat Arsenal to the Slovenian international’s signature, with the Gunners looking to land the forward on a cheaper deal.

Given how reckless Chelsea have proven to be with their spending in the Todd Boehly era of the club, there’s a more than likely chance that the Blues will not go full-throttle with Sesko to bring the striker to Stamford Bridge.

Indeed, Arsenal have already been beaten by Chelsea twice in recent windows for signings in the form of Mykhailo Mudryk and Moises Caicedo, and the Gunners could now be set for a third transfer defeat from the west London side.

Which is why Arsenal have to ensure that they don’t lose yet another transfer war to Chelsea, especially with Sesko a player who is perfect for the Gunners and would be beneficial in their bid to win the Premier League title.

Arsenal simply can’t let Chelsea win Sesko race this summer

Arsenal’s interest in Sesko seems pretty obvious from those looking in, yet with Chelsea now in the race and threatening to act in a big way, the Gunners can’t let the striker head to west London this summer.

The 21-year-old is an ideal fit to lead the line for Arsenal and to grow under Arteta, who could have his own version of Haaland if the Basque coach can work well with Sesko.

Which is why Arsenal must do all they can to sign Sesko, who could, predictably, stall at Chelsea and regret not moving to north London when the chance was there on the table.
