Joey Essex shakes up the islanders
Joey Essex suddenly walking into the villa after Maya Jama‘s introduction, “Meet… Joey,” was definitely not on our bingo card. He told the islanders, “I’m the king of Essex ready to find my queen.”
Back in 2018, he dated Ellie Brown from Love Island season 4, but his most recent partner was Vanessa, who he was partnered with on Dancing on Ice. The two split up last year.
The former TOWIE star also dated Brenda Santos, a Brazilian model, back in 2020. Well, islander Samantha did say she likes a cheeky chappy with the gift of the gab, so perhaps she’ll have eyes on him…
From TOWIE to Love Island villa
Joey Essex has had an entire makeover since he left TOWIE all those years ago. He was an OG, and became known for his trademark slogans like “REEM” and “BOSH” while on the ITV series.
In recent years, he’s gone for a buzzcut, taken himself away from reality TV, and focused on himself. But Joey couldn’t stay away for long – and now he’s looking for his villa princess.
He no longer lives in the UK and spends most of his days hanging out with Kim Kardashian’s former BFF, Jonathan Cheban, and Chloe Sims, his fellow TOWIE co-star, but Mallorca it is for now!
His entrance seriously shook me up
Love Island has shocked me out of my seat before, whether it was Callum’s ex, Molly, walking in on All Stars or Amber Gill coming back from Casa Amor single, to find Michael had moved on.
There was also that time Adam Collard made a comeback after a failed Love Island attempt several years earlier, and coupled with Paige, before he ended up stealing her from Jacques.
However, there was nothing quite like this moment. Bringing a former islander onto the show is one thing, but literally crossing over from TOWIE to Love Island is on another level. I screamed.
