An employee-owned Kingsclere business has been recognised in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2024 list.
BCMS was named on the small business section of the annual list which aims to highlight some of the nation’s best companies to work for.
BCMS is a corporate finance advisor that specialises in supporting private business owners up to and beyond a company sale transaction and its offices are based in Kingsclere Business Park.
The Sunday Times list entry states: “A welcome box of treats, lunch out and a dedicated ‘go-to person’ get starters off on the right foot and help them settle in at BCMS, a Newbury-based business intermediary and financial advisory firm.
“Apprenticeships, career coaching, weekly talks and networking groups develop the 28-strong team professionally at this employee-owned operation, which specialises in advising privately-owned businesses on company sale transactions.
“Volunteer days give staff the chance to do good deeds in work time.”
In response to being named on the list, a BCMS spokesperson said: “As an employee-owned business, we have a clear vision and direction of travel.
“We want anyone who works with us – our clients, our colleagues and the wider community – to have a more fulfilling and caring experience here than anywhere else in the corporate finance industry.”
BCMS’s people and culture director Debbie Henderson believed that the business’s transparency, decision to give every staff member an equal voice and focus on professional development all contributed to the prestigious mention.
She said: “We are transparent about who we are, what we do and how we are performing.
“We have quarterly meetings that are open dialogues between the leadership team and the whole business.
“People are aware of where we are going, what the future vision is and it is accessible to everybody. They know what their role is in driving that forward.
“It is a collective success. People are accountable and are empowered to deliver their bit towards that.”
Debbie also said that BCMS was passionate about employee wellbeing, and that the company would celebrate the successes of its workers, whether they be professional or personal.
She added: “Everyone gets involved in every major decision as well as the minor decisions too.

BCMS also supports a variety of different charities such as The Snowdrop Foundation which supports orphaned children from Kakinada, an Indian city, and helps them to receive education.
