'Full on dictatorship!' MTG demands GOP sabotage Trump prosecutions in new tantrum

(CSPAN)

A frustrated Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) took to the X platform on Tuesday to attack her own party for failing to retaliate against former President Donald Trump's 34-count felony conviction in Manhattan.

This comes as the conspiracy-prone congresswoman, who was previously close to GOP leadership when former Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) was in control of the House, is experiencing a growing rift with leadership under House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).

"We have our weekly GOP Conference this morning at 9 am," wrote Greene. "It better be about how we are stopping the Democrats and their FULL ON DICTATORSHIP and WAR against Pres Trump and ALL of his supporters. Because so far I have not heard a peep out anyone in leadership about a plan. ZERO."

"And more committee hearings is NOT going to cut it," she added. "While the Supreme Court stepping in and stopping it would be great, what are we doing????????"

Greene has pushed for drastic and extreme measures in the wake of Trump's criminal case, including a measure to completely halt all federal funding to the state of New York — although these measures have no chance of passing Congress.

This also comes after Greene forced a vote on whether to remove Johnson from the speakership, after he allowed the passage of legislation to reauthorize defense aid to Ukraine, Taiwan, and Israel — something Johnson himself delayed doing for months under pressure from the far-right. Unlike the previous such vote that ousted McCarthy, however, Greene's measure was thwarted as a number of House Democrats crossed the aisle to vote against his removal.

Trump is set to be sentenced in his case on July 11, and his punishment could range from probation and fines to outright prison time. The former president is expected to appeal the case immediately after Judge Juan Merchan hands down his sentence.
