Report: Man City might now struggle to sign Bayern Munich player

Manchester City reportedly see a summer transfer move for one particular Bayern Munich star to be too complicated to complete.

The Citizens have shown in recent years that they aren’t against signing fairly young players from clubs across Europe.

For example, the previous summer transfer window saw the Blues spend a combined total of £127m to sign Josko Gvardiol, who joined from RB Leipzig at the age of 21, and Jeremy Doku, who arrived from Rennes at the same age.

Now that another summer transfer window is around the corner, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding another young player currently tearing it up in one of Europe’s top five leagues that City have been linked with recently.

How Man City currently view a potential summer transfer move for Jamal Musiala

A recent report from The Athletic had this to say on the subject of players the Manchester club have had their eyes on recently ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

It said: “City had a look at Jamal Musiala, 21, but that seems too difficult to pull off.”

Back in April, it was reported that City were plotting a summer move for the midfielder, with Pep Guardiola apparently wanting more options for the attacking-midfield area.

In 163 senior appearances for Bayern, who now have former City captain Vincent Kompany as their manager, Musiala has scored 43 goals and delivered 31 assists across all competitions.

Musiala has had a strong season with Bayern

His latest season with the German club saw the 21-year-old start 33 of the 38 games he appeared in, finding the back of the net 12 times and providing eight assists in the process.

Across his 24 Bundesliga games, Musiala ended the campaign with the joint-highest total of goal-creating actions (18) in the Bayern squad alongside former City winger Leroy Sane.

He also won more tackles in the midfield third of the pitch (21) than any other player at the German club.

This highlights how effective he can be in an attacking sense as well as how useful he is out of possession trying to win the ball back for his side.

It also makes it safe to assume that Kompany and Bayern would ideally like to keep hold of Musiala this summer and not sell him to one of their European rivals, which could be why it has now been reported that City this as being a difficult transfer deal to pull off.
