Wolves star Matheus Cunha now responds when asked about Manchester United transfer interest

Matheus Cunha was linked with a move to Manchester United at the weekend – and the Wolves star has now given his reaction to the speculation.

It was claimed that Cunha has emerged as a target for the Red Devils going into the summer, and that he had been scouted several times by them in 2023/24.

Cunha wowed against United in the very first game of the season, which is likely when United decided to start keeping tabs.

Cunha enjoyed the best season of his career in 2023/24, finishing the campaign with 22 goal involvements in total.

It was perhaps inevitable that he would be linked with a move to a big club, given the quality he showed.

Cunha has actually now commented on the speculation linking him to Manchester United – and Wolves fans will like what he has said…

Cunha is currently in Brazil in his hometown João Pessoa and on Sunday night, the Wolves attacker was in attendance to watch Serie C side Botafogo PB take on Athletic Club.

The star is currently enjoying some downtime following his exploits for Wolves.

Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte have published an interesting report about Cunha, and quote him as responding to the speculation about Manchester United.

He said: “Whenever I can, I come to accompany you. I always want to show that (the affection) is reciprocal. Then we see this rush (Manchester United). But I’m very happy at Wolves.

“My focus is on resting and making the most of it with my family. I’m very happy at Wolves. The focus now is to have better seasons and help the club.

“God willing, I will continue on this path.”

Cunha happy, but it doesn’t mean Fosun won’t try to sell

Wolves fans will be delighted to hear that Cunha is currently really happy at Wolves. it’s been fairly obvious, but it’s always good to hear it from the horse’s mouth.

That said, it doesn’t mean Cunha will definitely stay.

Ultimately, every player has their price. If a huge offer comes in from Manchester United, Fosun will surely consider it.

It would be absolutely foolish for Wolves to sell, and it would be a decision that would enrage Gary O’Neil, but put nothing past these owners. Clearly, they are not afraid to make calls that will infuriate the fanbase, as demonstrated by the recent season ticket price hikes.

Hopefully, if Wolves did seek to sell, Cunha would actually dig his heels in and actually stop anything from coming to fruition.

It has sounded recently as though he’s extremely happy at Molineux. He branded his relationship with O’Neil the best he’s ever had with a manager, and he is clearly one of the most popular players in the Wolves squad at this moment in time.
