'Made the difference': Manager says £55m player has 'improved a lot' since signing for Man City last summer

Belgium manager Domenico Tedesco feels one player has made massive improvements in his game since joining Manchester City last summer.

Pep Guardiola tends to improve players on almost every single occasion, regardless of which club he has managed — one of the many reasons why he is an elite manager.

Karen Carney stated that Manchester City centre-back Josko Gvardiol has only “grown and grown” since signing for the club.

Domenico Tedesco says one player has “improved a lot” since Man City move

Rodney Marsh admitted that he was surprised by Mateo Kovacic’s growing importance to the Sky Blues side during the title run-in.

Matheus Nunes has yet to show significant improvements in his game since his arrival but his countrymen, Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo encountered similar fates during their respective debut campaigns. Every signing’s development at City happens at its own pace.

Domenico Tedesco believes Jeremy Doku has taken huge strides as a player since becoming a Manchester City player, as quoted by Het Laatste Nieuws.

On the £55.5 million man, he said: “I think [Jeremy] Doku has improved a lot since he joined City. He started very well, then he struggled a bit after that injury. But at the end of the season, he was very good again and made the difference in raids.”

Jeremy Doku has certainly improved

In our view, Domenico Tedesco is bang on the money about Jeremy Doku, a player he will be relying on to come good at Euro 2024.

It seems like slowly but surely, Doku has gained a sense of maturity in his game — producing better final passes, increasing his levels of consistency and emerging as a threat on both flanks.

As Tedesco pointed out, the former Rennes winger did suffer a dip in form after his injury.

But that occurs with the best players in the world, even if they have the experience of dealing with such setbacks.

Jeremy Doku has largely had an impressive first season at the Etihad Stadium and over time, he could develop in the same vein as former wingers like Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Riyad Mahrez.
