Report: Newcastle United absolutely desperate to sign 'world class' player before Euro 2024

Newcastle United are absolutely desperate to sign a ‘world class’ player before Euro 2024, according to a recent report.

Eddie Howe came under large amounts of scrutiny throughout last season but ended up guiding Newcastle to a seventh-placed finish.

Considering the abnormal number of injuries he had to contend with, many view that as a successful season and they were unfortunate to miss out on Europe.

Now, the emphasis will very much be on returning to some form of European competition and to do that, he’ll need to be backed in the market.

That said, the club are now eager to complete their first signing before the start of Euro 2024.

Newcastle United desperate to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili before Euro 2024

Newcastle United really want to seal the signing of Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili before Euro 2024, according to Super Deporte.

The Magpies have made a £35m bid for the ‘world class’ shot-stopper and there is a belief it will be accepted by the LaLiga outfit.

Chelsea are also chasing the 23-year-old but that interest may cool after it emerged that Enzo Maresca views Robert Sanchez as his number one.

Newcastle want to complete the deal before the tournament as they fear his price may rise if he is to perform well for Georgia.

Giorgi Mamardashvili has a decision to make

According to Marca, Mamardashvili has a big decision to make as he must consider whether to wait for further offers from sides in Europe.

Further, it’s believed he wants to focus on Euros and may push back any forthcoming transfer talks until after the tournament.

It seems Newcastle still have a lot of work to do to see the deal through.
