£50k-a-week Wolves star shines on latest display in 4-2 international win ahead of Euro 2024

Portugal were in action on Tuesday night in one of their last games before Euro 2024 – and Wolves winger Pedro Neto featured for his country.

The tournament is now just a couple of weeks away, and many nations are playing their final friendly matches before flying out to Germany.

It is a chance for managers to get a look at their players and try different things.

On Tuesday night, Roberto Martinez did just that in Portugal’s game with Finland. He used quite a few players who may not necessarily start their first group-stage match at Euro 2024 against Czech Republic.

And there were minutes for Wolves star Pedro Neto, who came on as a substitute at half-time…

It is an exciting time for Neto, who has missed the last two international tournaments for Portugal through injury.

Neto enjoyed a great season with Wolves, scoring three goals and making 11 assists. he was limited to just 24 appearances due to picking up two hamstring injuries, but he wowed when he took to the field.

Neto’s father recently admitted that the winger’s latest injury setbacks had them fearing he would miss out on selection for Euro 2024.

But he made it into the squad, along with Jose Sa and Nelson Semedo, and hopefully he will have some decent involvement out in Germany.

Against Finland, Neto featured for 45 minutes. He completed 3/4 dribbles, and also completed 27/30 (90%) passes. He was industrious, contesting six duels and winning three of those. He also made one ‘big chance’.

PortuGOAL reported that Neto missed one ‘very presentable’ chance to get himself on the scoresheet.

But overall Neto impressed, with many fans on social media praising his showing.

Neto could boost his value at Euro 2024

Wolves officials will have a close eye on Neto in the coming weeks.

They will probably be hoping that the winger has a decent level of involvement at Euro 2024 to remind everyone just what a top player he is.

It has been reported a few times recently that some interested clubs have reservations about his injury record. But with some strong outings in Germany, the £50,000-a-week ace might just encourage them to come calling with big offers.

Neto is the player Wolves should be looking to sell this summer. The star has been at the club for five years now and Wanderers have shown they can be OK without him. He should be offloaded before the likes of Rayan Ait-Nouri and Joao Gomes, both of whom can dramatically increase their market values if they stay.
