Report: Former Man Utd prospect branded ‘fantastic’ by Sir Alex Ferguson could join Kompany’s Bayern staff

Manchester United are still yet to decide Erik ten Hag’s future as the managerial landscape takes shape around Europe.

Winning the FA Cup final against Manchester City in May has certainly given Erik ten Hag a fresh chance to keep his job.

Ineos are yet to decide the fate of the Manchester United boss and it’s difficult to imagine major movement on potential signings until a final call is made.

Other clubs are settling their managerial decisions with Chelsea and Barcelona among the clubs to land new bosses in recent days.

United’s situation has been somewhat tied to Bayern Munich too, with their outgoing boss Thomas Tuchel thought to be on the Old Trafford radar.

Ten Hag was even linked with becoming the new Bayern boss having previously coached their second team.

Bayern ended up going with Vincent Kompany instead and one former Manchester United youngster may form part of his coaching staff in Bavaria…

Floribert N’Galula wanted at Bayern Munich

Kompany’s move has raised more than a few eyebrows with his move to Bayern.

The Belgian suffered relegation as Burnley boss but has now landed one of the biggest jobs in the game.

United fans probably wouldn’t have been happy if Kompany had been brought in to replace Ten Hag – and not just because of his Manchester City ties.

The move certainly seems like a gamble by Bayern and Kompany is now looking to secure his coaching staff.

Unsurprisingly, Kompany wants a reunion with former Manchester United talent Floribert N’Galula.

United fans from the early 2000’s may remember N’Galula, who showed promise in the youth ranks before heading to Denmark with Randers in 2007.

The former midfielder played with Kompany at Anderlecht before his move to United and then signed for Kompany’s club in Belgium, BX Brussels, to end his playing career.

N’Galula then joined Kompany’s coaching staff at Anderlecht in 2019 before following Kompany to Burnley three years later.

Now first team coach at Turf Moor, N’Galula is again wanted by Kompany with Sport1 in Germany highlighting a potential move.

Having formed such a strong friendship for more than 20 years now, N’Galula is understandably a priority for Kompany and the former United man looks primed for a move to the Allianz Arena.

Sir Alex Ferguson verdict on N’Galula at Manchester United

N’Galula was never given a first-team debut at United despite being a highly-rated prospect upon arrival from Anderlecht in 2003.

Sir Alex Ferguson was certainly a fan of N’Galula though and spoke highly about him back in 2004.

As quoted by Het NieuwsOne-time Man Utd prospect branded ‘fantastic’ by Sir Alex Ferguson could join Vincent Kompany’s Bayern staffblad in Belgium, Ferguson praised N’Galula as ‘fantastic’ as he showed promising development as a teenager.

Ferguson suggested that N’Galula wasn’t too far away from a first-team chance, but that sadly never arrived.

“N’Galula is doing fantastic. We are very happy with him. He is no longer that far away from the first team,” said Ferguson, welcoming him into first-team training alongside United stars.

A League Cup appearance against Arsenal in December 2004 was floated but N’Galula picked up an injury and that ruled him out of the 1-0 victory.

N’Galula noted that it was ‘a shame’ to miss out but Ferguson’s praise was a source of ‘enormous pleasure’ for him

“It’s a shame. But that can happen. I know that if I keep working well, one day I will get my chance at Manchester United. When someone like Alex Ferguson says things like that about you, it gives me enormous pleasure,” said N’Galula.

That first-team chance never arrived and N’Galula ended up with Randers, Sparta Rotterdam, D.C. United, TPS, OH Leuven and BX Brussels.

N’Galula never quite lived up to his potential but is now making waves in coaching – and could play a key role with one of the world’s biggest clubs if Kompany gets his way.
