Photo: Man Utd wonderkid in hospital, undergoes surgery on painful injury

Despite it being the summer, one Manchester United player’s fitness woes haven’t eased up as he confirms a dislocated shoulder on his social media

Dan Gore is a midfielder at Manchester United whom we all had high hopes for. He showed his ability during a cameo against Crystal Palace in September 2023, however since then, things haven’t gone to plan.

Often on the bench at Old Trafford up until the January transfer window, Gore rarely got a look in, with a few minutes against Aston Villa after Christmas all he had to shout about.

January took Gore on loan to Port Vale, where he enjoyed a decent debut before injury struggles plagued the rest of his time at the club.

He made his return to United last month and was even training with the first team prior to the Premier League finale and the FA Cup final.

Now, the 19-year-old has just received a painful injury blow which could impact his chances on the tour.

Manchester United wonderkid Dan Gore dislocates shoulder

Despite summer being a time which is for recuperation and rest for footballers, academy graduate Dan Gore has picked up a new injury.

Taking to his Instagram story on Wednesday, the midfielder posted a message to his followers and the fans of United, revealing that he’d dislocated his shoulder.

He wrote: “Gutted to have dislocated my shoulder and needed to have surgery. However, surgery went well, now time to rest and recover and get ready for the new season.”

Gore’s post was accompanied by a photograph of him in hospital giving the thumbs up.

With such a painful injury, Gore will just be focused on recovering. However, he’ll also be concerned at what this might mean for his chances of heading on the US tour this summer and a chance to impress the United boss.

How long will Dan Gore be out for?

A dislocated shoulder is a sore one for anyone to endure, but it’ll be worse for Gore as he might now miss pre-season which would’ve been a huge chance for him to impress Erik ten Hag.

According to the NHS website: “It usually takes up to 12 weeks to recover from a dislocated shoulder. It may take up to 16 weeks to fully return to playing some sports, but for some recovery can take longer. You’ll need to wear a sling to support your arm for the first few weeks.”

It isn’t an injury worth rushing back from either as the website adds: “

Once you dislocate your shoulder, there’s an increased risk it could happen again. The risk depends on your age and how well your shoulder joint healed.”

If Gore is out for 12 weeks, he will return just in time for the final week of August which could see him secure a loan move late in the window, hopefully with more luck than he had at Port Vale.
