Sir William Roberston Academy, Welbourn, staff present cheque to Newark Breast Cancer Support Group after 10k fundraiser in memory of colleague

A team of teachers and school staff have completed a 10k run in memory of a colleague — raising almost £2,000.

The “dream team” of teachers, teaching assistants and staff members from Sir William Roberston Academy, Welbourn, ran the Lincoln 10k to fundraiser for Newark Breast Cancer Support Group, in memory of a “much loved” colleague.

Carol Harley, who worked at the school for 20 years, passed away in April 2023 after a battle with cancer.

In her memory staff raised money for Newark Breast Cancer Support Group, a charity which supported Carol most when she had cancer.

Carol’s daughter Lesley Harley-Ellis, who is teaching assistant at the academy, presented the cheque for £1908.50 to Elaine Ellison the chairman of Newark Breast Cancer Support Group.

She was surrounded by Kathy McKie from the Newark Breast Cancer Support Group and fellow 19k runners Mr Howell, Mr Andersen, Mrs Spedding, Mrs Francis, Ms Oliver, Mr Sylvester, Mr Cooke, Mr Barnes, Miss Scorer and Ms Pavey.
