United also claim that ‘discussions remain open’ with forward Shola Shoretire over a potential stay.
The diminutive attacker is out of contract this summer and United are seemingly open to him staying on at Old Trafford.
Shoretire enjoyed a superb season in Premier League 2, hitting seven goals in nine appearances whilst also racking up four assists.
Shoretire even captained the side at times but picked up an injury in February and missed the final stages of the campaign.
A winger or attacking midfielder, Shoretire now has a chance to stay at United with talks still ongoing.
Forson’s potential exit may be factor here with the wide man strongly considering leaving United.
If Forson does go, Shoretire may fancy his chances to kick on emerge into the first-team picture with Forson out of the way.
That is something for Shoretire to consider, with the 20-year-old no doubt thinking about first-team prospects at this stage in his career.
Shoretire talent has been praised
Born in Newcastle, Shoretire spent time with the famous Wallsend Boys Club in the North East before spending him in the Newcastle United ranks.
Shoretire moved on to Sunderland and then Manchester City before signing for Manchester United in 2013, aged just nine.
Shoretire started to generate real hype and became United’s youngest player to make an appearance in a European competition with a Europa League appearance against Real Sociedad, aged 17 years and 23 days.
Named the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award winner in 2021, Shoretire looked set for a breakthrough but that hasn’t quite happened.
After a mixed loan spell at Bolton Wanderers – in which boss Ian Evatt suggested that Shoretire has an ‘immense amount of talent’ – Shoretire has become something of a forgotten talent.
An England youth international, Shoretire has potential but must now decide whether to persist with his United career or fly the nest and attempt to prove himself elsewhere.
