Rivals think Arsenal are in 'pole position' to sign £55m striker as Arteta given 'clear run'

Arsenal are reportedly viewed by rival clubs as the leading favourite to sign a £55m-rated attacker this summer.

The Gunners are set for a big transfer window with Mikel Arteta intent on improving his Arsenal squad to such a degree that they can overtake Manchester City next season in the Premier League title race.

A midfielder and striker have been earmarked as the two main priorities for Arsenal in the market, with the Gunners also expected to offload quite a few big-name players to help raise funds.

And rival teams now seem to think Arsenal are leading the chase for one particular signing.

Arsenal leading charge to sign Benjamin Sesko as rivals look on

According to journalist Charles Watts, Arsenal are being viewed by rival clubs as the leading team to sign Benjamin Sesko, who this week has been strongly linked with a move to the north London side.

With a rumoured release clause worth £55m, the Gunners could solve one major issue in their squad with the signing of Sesko, and rival teams now seem to think Arsenal are winning the race for the forward.

Watts said on Arsenal’s interest in Sesko: “If everyone was hoping Arsenal were going to have a clear run on Sesko, what we’ve seen in the last 24 hours or so certainly suggests that it’s not going to clear.

“By all accounts, Arsenal are still in pole position, and those clubs who are also sniffing around Sesko are also aware that if he does leave Leipzig that, at the moment, his most likely destination is Arsenal.”

Gunners can’t afford to wait around to sign Sesko this summer

At 21-years-old and coming off an 18-goal season with RB Leipzig, Sesko ticks a lot of boxes that Arsenal are looking for in a summer signing.

Which is why the north London side can’t afford to wait around to sign the striker, who is also believed to be wanted by Premier League rivals Chelsea as part of their latest rebuild.

Indeed, Arsenal have done well in recent windows to complete their summer business as early as possible, and signing Sesko this month would mean the patter is being repeated once again, a promising sign of things to come.
