£25m player could actually return from loan spell to play for Leeds United next season - journalist

The future of the returning loanees is once again going to be a big topic at Leeds United this summer.

After relegation from the Premier League 12 months ago, eight first team players opted to take advantage of the loan clause inserted into their contracts and move on.

Of that group, only Luis Sinisterra and Robin Koch have been able to secure permanent exits, meaning Leeds are back to square one again.

Despite Leeds‘ failure to win promotion, only two of the six loanees have the option to leave temporarily again, with chairman Paraag Marathe confirming the club are in a stronger position this time around.

Jack Harrison is definitely one of them and is expected to return to Everton, while Marc Roca is thought to be the other. He looks likely for a second loan spell at Real Betis.

Journalist shares what could happen with Brenden Aaronson at Leeds

With the future of Harrison and Roca looking clearer, that leaves just Max Wober, Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen and Diego Llorente.

AS Roma are keen to seal the signing of Llorente, though Kristensen does not look as though he will be re-joining him.

Borussia Monchengladbach, meanwhile, can’t afford the asking price of Wober, who under his own admission, has no idea what his future holds, but is waiting until after the EUROs.

As for Aaronson, Union Berlin will not be signing him permanently. After a difficult start to life in Germany, he improved towards the end, but not enough so that he will be returning.

With that in mind, there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding Leeds’ £25m midfielder this summer. However, speaking exclusively to LeedsUnited.News, transfer insider Graeme Bailey says there is a chance he could be reintegrated at Elland Road.

He revealed that Leeds actually gave some consideration to bringing him back in the winter and is someone he can see playing in the Championship.

He said: “Aaronson is an interesting one, we know Leeds did look at it in December/January when it wasn’t working for him in Germany. I could see Aaronson back at the club if Farke is open to it.

“If not, they will probably loan him out as he will be hard to sell now. I can see Aaronson playing in the Championship for Leeds, and if he did, I think he would be a good player in the Championship personally. If you could get him ticking, you are looking at a top, top Championship player there.”

What has Aaronson said on his future?

Aaronson is currently away on international duty with the USA as they prepare for the upcoming Copa America.

The 23-year-old was asked about his future towards the back end of last week, but insists it is not something he is focusing on despite the uncertainty.

He said: “I’m just kind of focused on the national team and having my full responsibility here. I’m not thinking about anything else, and that’s where my headspace is.

“I really enjoyed the end part of the season with Union, even though it was a bit of a relegation battle towards the end, but I got to play the last 10 games, that was really great for my development and for me.”
