'Best youngster' in Europe could be Manchester United's perfect long-term replacement for Bruno Fernandes - Opinion

Over the past few weeks, speculation on Bruno Fernandes’ future at Manchester United has grown, whether he stays or goes, Ineos must strengthen.

For Manchester United, this summer continues to increase in importance and now the stakes have been risen to include Bruno Fernandes.

The Manchester United captain has been linked with an exit this summer, as Saudi Arabian sides have been rumoured to hold £130m interest in the Portuguese Magnifico.

Fernandes is expected to have had talks already with the club in which he outlined his desires and ambitions which he expects the club to also have.

If the club can’t show him a long-term plan which he feels is adequate, there’s no assurances he will remain at the club. On the other hand, if they do then a new contract could be on the cards.

With this uncertainty, Ineos must still look to strengthen the attacking midfield position with Fernandes not able to play every minute anymore, and this one target could be the perfect addition.

Desire Doue must be signed by Manchester United this summer no matter what

Replacing Fernandes shouldn’t be a concern just yet, as Ineos should manage to keep ahold of him this summer if they are as ambitious as they say. Regardless, Rennes’ Desire Doue must still be signed, as long-term he’s the next big thing at attacking midfield and could be available for just £35m.

An 18-year-old Frenchman whose name translates roughly to ‘desired gift’, Doue has been linked with a move to Old Trafford already this summer and he is a gift Ineos could hand the manager which would be greatly desired.

After a season in which he continued to improve and develop, with nine-goal contributions in 31 Ligue 1 matches – 1,622 minutes – it’s little surprise that there is so much interest in him, as he has also been labelled by his teammates as the “best youngster” they’ve seen.

Capable of playing anywhere across the wings/number 10 positions, Doue wouldn’t be short of game-time and while Fernades’ minutes must decrease considering his age and injuries creeping in, he’d get to learn under arguably the best number 10 in world football.

What would Desire Doue bring to Manchester United?

Immediately Doue might not be a starter considering his age and the change in league and step up in competition, but with a lack of options in the 10, he’d be a welcome addition to make cameos to begin with.

Doue is a pure entertainer and so you just know that the Stretford End would get right behind him and be on the edge of their seats each time he picked the ball up.

Despite only being young, he possesses that special something needed to be world-class and can decide games on his own, a trait he will only improve as he gets older.

With a switch to the more physical Premier League, Doue already has a solid base given his upper body strength is above that of his age peers, which bodes well for his transition to English football.

A special player who must be signed this summer, as long-term United will be wishing they had him alongside the already excellent teenage duo of Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.
