'Brilliant': England coach blown away by £30m Arsenal player in training today

Arsenal have enjoyed a solid season in which they took the Premier League title race to the final day and reached the Champions League quarter-finals.

Some Gunners players will currently be on holiday, while the club’s hierarchy, coaches and scouts will be focusing on transfer activity ahead of the window opening.

Meanwhile, some Arsenal players are on international duty, with friendlies and World Cup qualifiers currently under way.

Some will even be getting ready to take part in international tournaments in the coming weeks, with Euro 2024 and the Copa America getting under way this month.

Gunners goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is currently with England for their pre-Euro 2024 friendlies against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Iceland.

The Arsenal stopper is part of a 33-strong group, ahead of the 26-man squad for the tournament being named on Saturday 8 June.

And though Ramsdale’s Gunners future is currently uncertain, he’s certainly impressing in training for the Three Lions.

On Wednesday, England’s official YouTube channel posted footage of their goalkeepers in training, and the Arsenal man came in for some big praise.

Goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson can be heard telling Ramsdale at around two minutes 30 seconds in: “Brilliant, Rambo!

“What you do super well is that when you turn, you are already instantly in position to be able to react.

“You don’t turn with an overstride in, you turn narrow, so now you are ready to react!”

Aaron Ramsdale faces uncertain Arsenal future

Ramsdale quickly became first-choice at the Emirates Stadium after joining for £30million in 2021, but he lost his place to David Raya last season.

He’s too good a keeper to be warming a bench, so let’s hope he can be playing regularly next season, whether at Arsenal or elsewhere.

In the meantime, Ramsdale will hope to make the England squad for Euro 2024, a tournament in which the Three Lions are among the favourites to go far.
