Rocco Becht and the We Will Collective are teaming up to give back through NIL.
The Iowa State quarterback is hosting a youth football camp on July 13 in Perry, Iowa – using his NIL dollars cover all costs, the NIL collective announced Wednesday. The free camp will be open to fifth through eighth graders and take place at Perry High School, and Becht is also planning to donate to Perry Community Schools with his NIL earnings.
Through the partnership with the Cyclones-focused We Will Collective, some Iowa State players will also join Becht as counselors at the camp.
“The state of Iowa and our community has given so much love to me and my family and we wanted to find a way to give back,” Becht said in a statement. “Perry has gone through so much in the past year and this was a small way to show support and provide a fun day for the kids in Perry.”
It’s the latest NIL venture for Becht and the We Will Collective. In April, the organization facilitated a deal with Ames Ford Lincoln and he participated in a meet-and-greet with teammates at the North Akeny HyVee through a partnership. The redshirt sophomore quarterback will also appear in the EA Sports College Football 25 video game, which will release next month.
But this opportunity is one in which Becht can give back to the community.
“This was entirely Rocco’s idea and we are honored to be able to help him make this a reality,” said Brent Blum, director of the We Will Collective, in a statement.
Rocco Becht looks to build on breakout 2023 season
On the field in 2024, Rocco Becht will look to pick up where he left off in a breakout redshirt freshman campaign a year ago.
After appearing in three games as a freshman in 2022, Becht completed 63% of his passes for 3,120 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2023 to win the Big 12’s Offensive Freshman of the Year award. In addition to his passing ability, Becht scored three rushing touchdowns as he totaled 63 yards on the ground.
Becht help lead Iowa State to a bounce-back year in 2023, helping the Cyclones to a 7-6 record – including a 6-3 mark in Big 12 play – and a Liberty Bowl appearance. ISU is now going through summer workouts ahead of training camp and the season opener Aug. 31 against North Dakota in Ames.
