The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning Wednesday night for a portion of New Jersey
The tornado warning was issued at 11:27 p.m., effective until 12 a.m, Wednesday, for southwestern Salem County.
At that time, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Port Penn, Delaware, moving east at 15 MPH, the service said.
Residents in the affected areas were asked to seek immediate shelter inside a sturdy building.
UPDATE (12 a.m.): The tornado warning for Salem county has expired, and no funnel clouds have been confirmed on the ground so far.
