On the night of June 6, the Russian occupiers struck Ukraine with ballistic missiles and 18 Shahed attack drones. Almost all of the kamikaze drones were shot down by the air defense forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russia launched kamikaze drones in Ukraine from the areas of Primorsko-Akhtarsk in the Russian Federation and Cape Chauda in the occupied Crimea.

Russian troops fired Iskander-M ballistic missiles at the Dnipro region from the area of Russian Taganrog.

“Mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, anti-aircraft missile troops, fighter aircraft, and electronic warfare units of the Ukrainian Air Force repelled Russia's air attack,” says Oleshchuk.

The general notes that as a result of the anti-aircraft battle, 17 Russian attack drones were shot down over Mykolaiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Khmelnytskyi regions.

The Ukrainian Navy downed 2 Shaheds last night.

Russian night air attack

Russian invaders use Shahed-type attack drones for air strikes on cities and towns in Ukraine almost every day. This time, Russia launched kamikaze drones for another attack late in the evening on June 5.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the Russian occupiers launched such attack drones from the south. An air alert was declared in many regions of Ukraine. Later, alarms were heard in the central regions and the east.

An explosion was also reported near the city of Zaporizhzhia.
