Report: Enzo Maresca wants to make playmaker likened to Kevin De Bruyne his first Chelsea signing

Enzo Maresca wants to make playmaker likened to Kevin De Bruyne his first Chelsea signing, according to a recent report.

The West Londoners have seen a change in the dugout in the last week, with Enzo Maresca replacing Mauricio Pochettino.

The dismissal of Mauricio Pochettino came as quite a shock to many, as his side started to really find their rhythm towards the end of the campaign.

But, Todd Boehly evidently felt Maresca is the right man to take the reigns and he reportedly wants to make a Leicester player his first signing.

Chelsea want to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

According to The Sun, Chelsea have lined up Leicester City playmaker Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as a Conor Gallagher replacement.

Gallagher is expected to depart The Blues this summer if his £50m price tag is met, with Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa credited with interest.

Maresca wants to bring in the £40m-rated Leicester man as his replacement, though, he faces competition from Liverpool.

Leicester are under pressure to sell before the end of June – when the financial year ends – so there is an expectancy that Dewsbury-Hall will be made available for sale.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall statistics

Dewsbury-Hall’s FBref statistics make for very impressive reading.

The 25-year-old ranks in the top two per cent for shot-creating actions compared to his positional peers across Europe.

Further, he sits in the top two per cent for progressive carries, evincing his excellent dribbling ability, so it’s evident he is of a slightly different profile to Gallagher.

Dewsbury-Hall, who has been likened to Kevin De Bruyne, has previously made it clear he wants to stay at Leicester but it remains to be seen whether that stance will change following Maresca’s departure.
