'This week': Fabrizio Romano shares what Arne Slot is about to with 'every single' Liverpool player

Liverpool supporters are still waiting to hear from Arne Slot after taking over as head coach.

Slot has now officially been in the job for almost a week, and yet the Dutchman has not yet completed any media duties.

Although this may seem strange to some, it’s likely that the 45-year-old is simply taking a little time off before getting to work at the AXA Training Centre.

With his players not expected back until early July, there’s still a way to go before Slot can meet any of his Liverpool squad.

Nevertheless, that does not mean that work is not ongoing behind the scenes. There’s a lot to do this summer and it sounds like the new head coach is about to really get his teeth stuck in at Anfield.

Arne Slot ready for work at Liverpool

Part of the reason Liverpool really wanted Slot is because he’s seemingly happy working under a more active sporting director.

While Jurgen Klopp was much more influential in terms of recruitment and the day-to-day running of things, Slot is a ‘head coach.’ His job is simply sorting out matters on the training pitch and on game day.

Above the former Feyenoord manager, the Liverpool owners have Richard Hughes, Michael Edwards and a raft of other decision makers calling the shots.

That does not mean that Slot will not be involved in major decisions about the make-up of his squad, though.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the boss is set to begin conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy about ‘every single player’ currently in the team.

Speaking specifically about Joe Gomez, Romano told Give Me Sport that Slot is about to get into some deep discussions about who could leave.

“I think on these kind of players, it always depends on the possibilities they have on the market in terms of proposals,” says Romano. “Then, on Arne Slot, Liverpool really want to involve the manager in the transfer discussions they will have on every single player – including Joe Gomez.

“I think starting from this week they will have conversations with the coach, see what he wants to do with the players, and we will see from there.”

Which players could be in trouble with Arne Slot?

There have been some surprise claims recently that Gomez could be one of the players to leave Liverpool this summer.

However, it still seems like an unlikely scenario. After a really good season, we’d expect the 27-year-old to stay put.

Some of Gomez’s teammates may not get the same outcome, though. While wholesale changes don’t seem likely, a couple of players could be on the chopping block.

Kostas Tsimikas is one who reportedly could leave and it would not be a surprise to hear discussions between Slot and FSG lean this way too.

It would also be interesting to hear the conversations surrounding Luis Diaz. Diaz has been heavily linked with Barcelona and there were even claims that Liverpool staff were openly discussing the Colombian being sold.

Things should all start to become clearer as Slot gets properly to work over the coming weeks.
