'Appallingly uncertain': Nation's media hammer £10m Leeds player for midweek display ahead of Euro 2024

Leeds United only have a handful of players set to be involved at Euro 2024 but one of them has been hammered by his Nation’s media despite playing 90 minutes on Wednesday night.

Leeds captain Liam Cooper suffered a knock in a friendly this week against Gibraltar but there is a confidence he will still be a part of Scotland’s squad going into this summer’s tournament in Germany.

Max Wober is expected to play a prominent role for Ralf Rangnick’s Austria and helped his country beat Serbia 2-1 this week. Robin Koch remains on the books until June 30, and is in Germany’s Euro 2024 side.

The only other is Rasmus Kristensen, with the Danish defender expected to return to Elland Road this summer after struggling at Roma. Diego Llorente is set to stay at Roma, but Kristensen is due to return.

He is a part of Denmark’s squad ahead of Euro 2024 and on Wednesday, he helped his side beat Sweden 2-1. Kristensen lasted the entire 90 minutes, but the £10m man did not convince his Nation’s media.

Leeds man Rasmus Kristensen criticised by his Nation’s media

Denmark played a back three in their warm-up match for Euro 2024 against a Sweden side that did not quality, using Kristensen on the right with Palace’s Joachim Andersen and Leicester’s Jannik Vestergaard.

The game got off to a flyer, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg turning in a Christian Eriksen corner. Alex Isak levelled, a shot deflecting off of Kristensen and finding Isak to score before Eriksen scored a stunning late winner.

A solid win for Denmark going into Euro 2024 but Danish outlet BT were not impressed with Leeds man Kristensen. He got 3/6 stars: “What just happened there Kristensen? Moved into central defense.

“But was part of an appallingly uncertain trio in the first half. In the second half it got better and he spiced it all up with a beautiful dribble that just about ended up in a dream box,” Danish outlet BT reported.

Kristensen set for uncertain future ahead of Euro 2024

The fact he was wearing the no.25 shirt suggests that Kristensen has got himself into the Denmark side by the skin of his teeth. It comes after being axed by Denmark while at Leeds before a goal against Wolves.

His form at Roma has not been particularly convincing although it has done enough to see him part of the 26-man squad going to Germany. The chances are though, he will be on the bench for his country.

With his focus on Euro 2024, Leeds may have to wait until Denmark are knocked out before being able to do anything in terms of Kristensen’s future. While he is set to return, his future is not at Elland Road.
