Newark Emmaus Trust thanks BBC Children In Needs funding

BBC Children in Need funding will make a big difference in the lives of children and young adults supported by a charity.

Newark Emmaus Trust has received funding that will help homeless babies and children at the Trust to grow in confidence and to learn how to behave and interact with other children in activities and visits.

The children and youngsters under 18’s willingness to interact with the team will increase resulting in a brighter future as their parents learn parenting skills through programmes funded by Children In Need.

Newark Emmaus Trust ceo, Nikki Burley said: “‘We are extremely grateful for this hugely important funding from Children In Need, it will make a big difference to the lives of the children and young adults in our care.”

The BBC Children in Need offers two grants to support children and young people up to the age of 18 who are experiencing disadvantages in different ways.

The programmes are able to support a wide variety of projects from holiday schemes, playground equipment, sports activities and even minibuses with revenue, capital and salary costs all considered.

The grant schemes are offered to charities, voluntary organisations, schools and churches.

The main grants programme will offer over £10,000 per year for up to three years and the small grants programme will go up to £10,000 per year for up to three years.

The grant will support the Newark charity to promote opportunities for parent and children activities plus access to workshops that are available through the wider programmes of the Trust.

Homeless babies and children at the Trust will benefit from an improved home environment because of their parents’ increased understanding of health and safety needs in the home and improved hygiene.

Parents and children moving on to independence into the wider world will be better equipped to deal with daily life through the Trust’s ‘Move-on Programme’.

Nikki Burley added: “We have improved our programme to include new workbooks and more detailed assessments with the senior support worker before meeting the Starting Well Officer at Newark and Sherwood District Council, which we hope will result in a successful move on.

“The funding received will make a massive, positive difference to the lives of the young people and children who come through the Trust.

“We offer our sincere gratitude to all those who fundraise for Children in Need, every donation, great or small, matters.”
