‘Fantastic’ Chelsea player is actually a better passer in the final third than Cole Palmer

As far as the attack goes at Chelsea, it is clear that one player has been more important than any over the last 12 months.

Cole Palmer was a deadline day signing for the Blues last summer, with him going on to be easily the signing of the season in the Premier League.

He finished only behind Erling Haaland in the goalscoring charts this season, and has now started to take his club form with him to the international stage.

The 22-year-old scored on his first start for his country earlier this week, and is certainly in the conversation for a starting role for England at the upcoming European Championships.

Something that has been noted about Palmer is his coolness to pick the right pass at crucial moments, which contributes to his plethora of assists this season.

Conor Gallagher amongst most accurate final third passers

However, as revealed by WhoScored, he is not actually the most accurate of Chelsea’s players in this area of the pitch.

Instead, Conor Gallagher ranks in the top 10 of players across Europe in this category.

Reports recently have claimed that the Blues could be looking to cash in on the England international at the end of this season.

Aston Villa want Gallagher

It claimed that Aston Villa were in preliminary talks with the club over a potential deal, although it is believed thatthe player still firmly wants to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Considering he spent the majority of the previous campaign as the club due to the injury problems for Reece James and Ben Chilwell, his leadership is something that would be hard to replace with the way the club are going.

However, Romeo Lavia will be hoping for a season without his own injury nightmares, where he can compete with the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo for minutes in the coming seasons.
