'Don't know if he's done enough': Pundit says £300k-a-week Man City star actually does not deserve Euros spot

Jason Cundy feels one Manchester City player does not deserve to be picked for Euro 2024.

A majority of the players at Manchester City will head to the tournament, as they do for the World Cup and the Copa America as well.

Top players like Erling Haaland and Oscar Bobb will be unable to due to Norway’s failure to qualify for the competition.

Jason Cundy says one Man City star does not merit Euro 2024 spot

However, players like the City pair belong at such a competition.

Similarly, a goalkeeper of Stefan Ortega’s calibre would likely have been heading to the tournament had Germany not had players like Manuel Neuer, Marc Andre-ter Stegen, Alexander Nubel and Oliver Baumann at their disposal.

Jason Cundy named the seven England players he felt deserved not to be included in the final 26-man squad for Euro 2024 and he believes Jack Grealish is one of them.

On talkSPORT, Cundy said: “[James] Trafford, [Curtis] Jones, [Lewis] Dunk, [James] Maddison, [Jarrad] Branthwaite, [Jack] Grealish and [Jarrell] Quansah.”

“Grealish, he’s just come, I mean you look at [Anthony] Gordon…”

Jermaine Pennant replied: “Can I throw a little point at you? He came on and changed the game [against Bosnia] to a certain degree, Grealish. That’s what sometimes he can bring you. Sometimes, it needs that, not all about pace, sometimes it needs a bit of what he did.”

“It gives you a bit of difference, we’ve only got a few players, we’ve got [Cole] Palmer pace, we’ve got [Anthony] Gordon pace, you need Grealish who can hold up the ball and slow things down and that little bit of trickery, got an assist, maybe two assists.”

Cundy replied: “I don’t know if he’s done enough for me. Don’t know if he’s done enough. Look, look, it’s a difference of opinions.”

Grealish could take the positives from either outcome

If Gareth Southgate agrees with Jason Cundy while picking his England squad for Euro 2024, Jack Grealish should look on the bright side.

Witnessing the Three Lions compete at the major tournament will ignite the fire in Grealish to reclaim his spot back in the national team’s roster.

The £300,000-a-week man could spend the summer by regrouping, working on his fitness to ensure he is less injury-prone next season and improving his game.

In the past, Grealish has always impacted proceedings in an England shirt, as exemplified by his sparkling cameos for his nation.

If Jack Grealish does head to Euro 2024, he has the chance to showcase to the world why he remains a top player.

Whether that is as a starter for his country or as a late substitute.

As a result, the Manchester City attacker should take whichever decision comes his way with a smile on his face and proceed.
