Wendy’s set to drop new Triple Berry Frosty but taste testers aren’t impressed

A brand new Frosty flavor is set to join the Wendy’s lineup starting June 10. It combines three berry flavors – blackberry, raspberry and strawberry – and should be available nationwide from Monday.

That said, there are one or two early testers who have managed to get their hands on a pre-launch Frosty, and their reactions are… mixed.

New Wendy’s Triple Berry Frosty due to launch nationwide

Wendy’s upcoming Triple Berry Frosty launch is due to take place on Monday, June 10. Customers should be able to get their hands on the new Frosty flavor throughout the United States.

The flavors it combines are strawberry, raspberry and blackberry, according to Snackolator’s Instagram post teasing the drop. The account adds that stores have begun to promote the Triple Berry Frosty in advance of the launch.

It also encourages Wendy’s fans to while away the wait with an Orange Dreamsicle Frosty. Billed as an opportunity to “travel back in time” with “sweet, nostalgic flavors”, the Orange Dreamsicle Frosty debuted on March 19.

It looks like it will cease to become available when the Triple Berry Frosty drops next week.

Taste testers are less than impressed

TikTok’s Meg & Maddie, a mother-and-daughter duo from Florida with a following of 872K, have tasted the new Frosty. Their reaction wasn’t as positive as it could have been.

“This smells unbelievable,” says the elder of the two, before they tuck in. But that’s as far as the glowing review goes. They bump spoons and taste the dessert. After a few seconds of circumspection, while Maddie (the daughter) raises one of her eyebrows and looks unsure, Meg says simply, “Oh…”

She then says it tastes like medicine, looks morose, and says she’s really sad. Maddie says it’s not at all like what she was expecting. Meg then specifies that, to her mind, it tastes like Robitussin. Robitussin is a cough and cold medicine. The generic name for it is dextromethorphan (DXM).

Maddie says she doesn’t know what that is, but that she agrees it tastes like medicine. “Like a grape, purple cough medicine. I’m a little disappointed.”

But Meg looks on the upside: “Glad we didn’t get two.” Watch the video below.

What else to look out for from Wendy’s this year

As mentioned earlier, Wendy’s Orange Dreamsicle Frosty will be available for just a few more days.

The fast food giant also recently launched Saucy Nuggs, a new brand of chicken nuggets. They come in seven flavors, with a side of Ranch or Blue Cheese dipping sauce. They became available to digital Wendy’s customers on June 3, and the official in-store rollout coincides with that of the Triple Berry Frosty (June 10).

It’s been just over three years since Wendy’s announced plans to return to the UK after 20 years absent from the country. In May 2021, Wendy’s planned to open up to 400 outlets nationwide. This in turn would serve as a “spearhead” for a European-wide expansion.

At the time of writing, there are Wendy’s locations in 25 UK towns and cities. They include Cambridge, Lincoln and Reading. There are two in Hull.
