‘Not so sure’: Sam Allardyce reckons Gareth Southgate may not like £300k-a-week Man City player

Sam Allardyce has suggested that one Manchester City player may not be in England’s final squad for the Euros because Gareth Southgate doesn’t like him.

After Monday’s 3-0 friendly win over Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Three Lions have another match to play before Southgate announces his 26-man squad for the upcoming tournament in Germany.

With England playing Iceland on Friday in their final game before the tournament, Southgate will announce his 26-man squad on Saturday.

Ahead of this crucial announcement, one pundit and former England manager has shared an interesting claim about one of the five City players who will be hoping to be included in the final squad.

Sam Allardyce says Jack Grealish won’t make the England squad for specific reason

Speaking on talkSPORT, Allardyce had this to say on the subject of Jack Grealish and the possibility of him not being included in England’s final squad for the Euros.

He said: “I’m not so sure he might make the [squad]. I hope he does because I’m a big fan of his but not so sure he’s a huge friend of Gareth’s.”

Southgate actually really likes Grealish

Looking back over Monday’s 3-0 win over Bosnia, Grealish came on as a second-half substitute to replace Eberechi Eze in the 62nd minute just after England went 1-0 up.

During his time on the pitch, the City winger went on to provide the assist for England’s second goal of the game with a deep back-post cross that Trent Alexander-Arnold got on the end of to volley the back in the back of the net.

After the game, in his post-match press conference, Southgate was asked about Grealish and said that no one in the England camp has any doubt about his ability or what he offers the team.

In addition to that, the England manager also said that the £300k-a-week winger is someone they enjoy having around in the squad and in the dressing room due to his character and personality.

This, in our view, dismisses this recent claim from Allardyce that Grealish may not be in the England squad for the Euros because Southgate doesn’t like him.

However, with David Ornstein recently claiming that the City star will not be included in the final squad, this will make it intriguing to hear what Southgate’s explanation will be if Grealish does end up being cut.
