Ukraine receives over hundred off-road vehicles and engineering vehicles Morooka from Japan

Ukraine has received a batch of automotive equipment from Japan for the needs of the Armed Forces, according to the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine on Twitter (X).

"At the request of the Ukrainian government, the Ministry of Defense and Self-Defense Forces of Japan provided Ukraine with a series of vehicles based on a decision made in May 2023," the embassy stated.

It is known that Ukraine received a batch of 101 Toyota High Mobility Vehicles (HMV) and Morooka PC-065B engineering vehicles. The exact quantity of each type provided was not disclosed by the Japanese side, but it is known that the vehicles arrived in Poland on June 5 and were then sent to Ukraine.

Morooka vehicles

Morooka vehicles are engineering crawler dumpers. Engineers of ground forces use these vehicles for establishing positions, clearing territories, and transporting various cargoes. Additionally, the machines are equipped with a manipulator for lifting various loads.

Morooka machines are quite slow, with a maximum speed of 20 km/h, and a payload capacity of 3 tons.

Japan's stance on the war between Russia and Ukraine

In early April, Ukraine received $118 million from the government of Japan on a non-repayable basis.

Furthermore, the Japanese government plans to provide Ukrainian rescuers with demining vehicles to clear territories from explosive devices.
