Dog stuck in storm drain dug out by N.J. firefighters

A dog trapped in a storm drain in Sparta Township was saved by local firefighters this week.

The Sparta Township Fire Department in Sussex County responded to a call to rescue the dog, named Hubbell, from the drain at around 7 p.m. Sunday, officials reported.

Hubbell found his way into the drainage pipe in the Knoll Heights area of the township, but couldn’t find his way out, the fire department said.

As his owners tried to coax him out, firefighters were able to safely dig the dog out of the drain, according to a report on 6abc.

“We’re happy to report that other than needing a bath, he’ll be just fine,” the Sparta Township Fire Department said in a post on Facebook.
