The hosts began the show by discussing the latest surrounding Watkins, who reportedly is set to visit Michigan and St. John’s this week. A return to Florida State is possible, and other schools remain in the mix.

“I have an update. I spoke with sources at Michigan, St. John’s and Florida State about this in the last 24 hours,” Balas said. “One of them tells me that FSU talked with him last night. Jamir is mulling it over, but it was explained as a positive talk for FSU. This source did say if he leaves, they feel like it’s Michigan. He called it 50-50 on a decision. And then another call from another FSU source says there’s a distinct possibility he returns to Florida State. So we’ll see what happens.

“But that was kind of the sense I got was, in speaking to the Michigan people, that there was no visit set in stone at this point — and we’re getting close to the end of the week. So maybe they were putting out feelers. Maybe this was an NIL play for him. That’s just kinda … when these things happen, when there’s conflicting information, ‘Hey, I’m gonna go see St. John’s unless you guys can help me out with NIL or something like that…’ I’m not saying that’s exactly what happened here, but I think that’s a possibility, because St. John’s folks thinks that if he leaves Florida State, it’ll be Michigan, as well.

“I don’t know what Michigan could match the money, though, that St. John’s, for example, would give him, given their money cannon there for basketball. It’s gonna be interesting to see what happens here if he doesn’t visit this week, but I do think there’s a possibility he returns to Florida State. If Michigan gets him on campus, I would view that as an extremely positive development.”
