£69m Manchester United target who Bruno Fernandes 'loves' now admits he wants Premier League move

One Manchester United target for this summer has now admitted that he is keen on making a Premier League move.

One of the main priorities this summer for Manchester United is the centre of midfield where a partner for Kobbie Mainoo is desired.

The midfield department is likely to lose both Casemiro and Christian Eriksen and therefore additions will become even more necessary.

Multiple options have already been linked including a bid being submitted for Joao Neves, who’d be many people’s top choice for the role.

Now, another reported target has admitted himself that he’d like to move to the Premier League.

Morten Hjulmand admits his feelings over a Premier League move

Sporting Lisbon midfielder Morten Hjulmand has been linked often with a move to Old Trafford ever since January.

Now as he prepares to head to the European Championships with Denmark, he’s done an interview with Tips Bladet and in doing so has answered questions about his future and in particular a possible move to the Premier League.

“I’d say that it is a destination I could see myself going to in the future. Whether it’s a dream, I don’t know. But it is a goal for me to play in the Premier League one day.”

This isn’t the only topic that Hjulmand touched on during the interview which might be related to United. Hjulmand was quizzed over the praise he received from Bruno Fernandes when the United captain said: “The two in midfield… I love Sporting’s midfield, I love (Hidemasa ) Morita and Hjulmand.

“They’re two vital players in Sporting’s game, especially when they have to have more of the ball and be more tactically organised.”

In response to this praise, Hjulmand explained: “It’s always great to receive praise from other big profiles.

“I know he’s a former Sporting player and he’s still a big fan of the club, so it’s great to know he’s still watching. It can only make me happy to receive praise from a player like him.”

Should Manchester United choose Hjulmand this summer?

While there is no denying that Hjulmand is an excellent defensive midfielder, the fact he has a release clause of £69m, which Sporting may demand is met is a little off-putting.

The Dane would be a great option but should really be a signing of the cheaper variety in comparison to some of the more expensive options on the market which are bonafide world-class players.

Hjulmand is the profile United needs though at 24 years old, and so if he is who the club end up bringing, there will be few complaints as his tackling and duel-winning will allow Mainoo a freer role further up the pitch.
