'Congratulations'... Darwin Nunez sends message to Manchester United winger

Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri is gearing up for a big summer at the Copa America.

Facundo Pellistri is part of a Uruguay side which have become the scariest team in South American football over the past few months.

Marcelo Bielsa’s rejuvenated side are on a winning streak, demolishing Mexico 4-0 this week, after beating Brazil and Argentina earlier this year.

While former Manchester United star Edinson Cavani has retired from Uruguay’s national team, youngster Facundo Pellistri is playing a prominent role.

Facundo Pellistri stars for Uruguay

Facundo Pellistri scored his first ever international goal in Uruguay’s friendly win over Uruguay, demonstrating his growing confidence in the team.

He added to his contribution with an impressive assist where he laid a goal on a plate for Darwin Nunez, who could not miss the open goal chance Pellistri created for him.

The Uruguayan press were very impressed with Pellistri’s display, praising his lively contribution to the team as they build to the Copa America.

Teammates praise Pellistri

Pellistri’s contribution was appreciated by his colleagues for club and country, with Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho sending a message to praise his ‘little brother’.

There was also a message from Real Madrid’s Ernesto Valverde, while Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez shared his own well wishes.

Nunez wished Pellistri ‘congratulations’ and promised that his first international goal is ‘the first of many’.

Facundo Pellistri’s international exploits continue to demonstrate that he has something to offer. Whether that is for Manchester United, is another matter.

The Copa America could be the launch-pad for Pellistri to secure a summer exit, putting him in the shop window this summer.

What United have never done, is put Pellistri in a position to succeed. He has never had a run in the side, and his loan spells have been to relegation-battling teams.

It would have been better to send him on loan to a team at the top of their respective league, to give him a chance to showcase his talent properly.

As part of a winning Uruguay team right now, he is demonstrating he can be a valuable asset.
